I guess now is as good a time as any to answer that age-old question, one that I hear (or overhear) from a few of you from time to time – “What the hell does Scott Perry do for a living?”
Well, thanks for asking, I think.
I do many things, the most visible of which you see right here – leading industry resource New Music Tipsheet and its accompanying Monday morning newsletter. Radio, retail, press, all the DSPs, booking agents, concert promoters, booking agents, music supervisors & synch licensors, ad agencies, managers, lawyers, publishers, and all kinds of button–pushers throughout the music, entertainment, and advertising industry rely on the Tipsheet for a concise, quick view of what’s coming out in the weeks ahead. I also gather & syndicate headlines from the top music, tech, and business sites to make your life easier.
The Tipsheet is not geared towards consumers, but if they find out about it through word of mouth, then I’m cool with that.
The Tipsheet was built as a means for business people to get the information they need in order to get their jobs done, and to help the advertisers that support the Tipsheet get that extra bit of exposure to those key decision makers.
I handle research, analysis, marketing, forecasting, and all-round strategic consulting for financial, technology, and music-related firms of all sizes — in case you can’t tell from my weekly emails, my brain doesn’t stop working.
I run street marketing campaigns for film studios and TV networks.
I connect businesses and artists with the right people to get the most success for their enterprises.
I do whatever it takes it make a dollar in this day & age — and try to make it all look easy.
Keep in mind though, I am not a blogger. I am humbled that many recognize the weekly Tipsheet email as a megaphone for great music & ideas, but I will not review or recommend an album, a show, or an emerging technology, unless it is something that truly excites me. Although I do appreciate the promos & invites as an acknowledgement of my having made your work life a little better.
So to advertisers and supporters, thank you for keeping things rolling at the Tipsheet for nearly a decade.
We are wrapping up ads for November & December should you need, and are already starting to book ads for 2012 releases.
And for anyone that needs my consulting services, I am here any time to chat, especially if you need help getting noticed at SXSW 2012.
